Clay insulation brick refers to a lightweight refractory product containing Al₂ OY30%-46%, with clay clinker or light clinker and plastic clay as the main principle, usually produced by combustible method, or by chemical method or foam method to form a porous structure.

Thermal insulation refractory materials are characterized by high porosity, generally 40%-85%; Low volume density is less than 1.5g/cm³; Low thermal conductivity, generally less than 1.0W(m.K). It acts as a thermal insulation material for industrial furnaces, which can reduce the heat loss of furnaces, save energy, and reduce the quality of thermal equipment. Thermal insulation refractories have poor mechanical strength, wear resistance and slag erosion resistance, and are not suitable for the load-bearing structure of the kiln and direct contact with slag, furnace charge, molten metal and other parts.
